I get copied on lots of irrelevant emails. Should I ask to get taken off email chains?

email blocks on gray surface

No.

While it may be tempting to reply all with a request to be deleted from an email chain, doing so is of no benefit. At best, you get a few less emails in your inbox. But the risk you take for this result is to appear impatient, snarky, and unable to prioritize. Your response could also be forwarded to an unintended audience. It’s not a good look.

Simply sideline emails you don’t need or want to see, and if their presence or number is bothersome, set an email rule to have them go directly to a folder or the trash.
